Aatish writes well but the notion of "dealing with" any constituent of our historical experience should raise red signals. We are the sum of our parts, neither less nor more.

The Muslim conquest must indeed be squarely and fairly depicted, the full record of the destruction of Hindu monuments laid out. Anything less will cause endless bitterness.
