"Earlier they described the PM as Mrs Sonia Gandhi’s pawn. Yet, along with Mr Natwar Singh, their attack targeted Dr Manmohan Singh instead of Mrs Sonia Gandhi."

Not only in this issue. But even during the Bihar fiasco, the oppn attacked Manmohan, not Sonia though she and Laloo were the key players. And of course on Bofors and that defreezing of Q's account, BJP made a noise for a day or two and then became silent.

All political parties are in collusion when it comes to corruption. BJP did very little during the 6 years to solve the bofors case. WHY? No answers. I am sure there is an unspoken agreement between all the parties-make as much noise as you can but do not take any action to nail the culprit.

VPSingh came to power precisely because he promised to punish the culprits in Bofors. He claimed he had the Swiss bank acct numbers in his pocket. Yet when he came to power, he did nothing. The list can be multiplied many times.

All parties have skeletons in their cupboards and so they sort of game the system in such a way that no one gets hurt.

Any notion or approximation of "real" freedom cannot be achieved without economic freedom - it is a necessary condition though not sufficient. 80% of our citizens or more are still far away for it. I also do think that behind the garibi hatao slogans, there is a desire for garibi by the "governing" class because it gives them great influence and power to them (the mai-baap from our feudal past) and helps to get elected by last minute freebies.

Sir, I have gone through the book "The State Within A State-The KGB And Its Hold On Russia-Past,Present and Future" By Yevgenia Albats. On page 223 there is a reference to a letter of Viktor Chebrikov regarding Funds transfer to the son and family of then (1982) Indian Premier Minister. But I could not find any refernce to the alleged CPSU resolution or Council of Minister resolution. I am interested to know the source of these resolutions. Will Mr Puri kindly inform about the source of this information regarding alleged CPSU and Council of Ministers(of USSR) resolutions.
