There are two sides to this story. One,smuggling of all kinds of contraband across the Wagha border has long been some kind of cottage industry in Punjab, helping thousands of smugglers and law enforcement officials to amass huge fortunes. Two, the successive governments in Punjab have been singularly inept in tackling the twin issues of narcotics smuggling and growing drug addiction in Punjab villages, which both need to be tackled on a war footing.

Being a youth icon it is a highly irresponsible behaviour on his part. The shows the social acceptability of drugs in punjab  that someone like him did not hesitate before using it.
