A classic example of Jayalalitha’s lack of administrative calibre (Two Leaves Can Make a Spring, Feb 6) is the Koodankulam nuclear power plant. She has not made any effort to sort out the matter with the locals and the central government. As a result, the plant is still not functional even as the state is badly short of power.
AIADMK will never amount to anything outside Tamil Nadu. The only way Jayalalithaa can become PM is in the event of a severely hung parliament where even 35 seats from Tamil Nadu can tilt scales. Even so, it will be a circus government which will collapse within a few months, much like what happened when Deve Gowda and I.K.Gujral became PM.
Mr Rajan, In which world are you. 130 Adjornements, 13 long years, every week SC kicks on her face for seeking the adjournaments. Least respect for courts. And you say she is a PM material. By the way she is authoring a book- 1000 reasons to seek adjounaments, a 500 page book. ( one reason - paint of court complex not pleasing) .
The comedian and veteran actress- this is called " Real life drama.
Venkat >> One classic example of her administrative calibre is KKNP-
KKNP (Koodankulam Nuclear Power Plant) and the movement to oppose it is clearly a creation of a specific religious group. In ealier days, Christian Missionaries indulged in constructive activities (atleast in South India/TN) such as spreading education and creating healthcare facilities. But the leaders opposing the nuclear powerplant are forces who want to destroy national wealth to satisfy their egos and unscientific agenda.
In a democracy, everyone is entitled to opinion and as citizens of the country and residents, the Christian leaders behind the anti nuclear powerplant certainly are entitled to opinion. But they were very well residing in the place for last 22 years, the work on the plant started in 1988. Now all of sudden why are they opposing the power plant? That is after 13000 crore rupees of tax payer money and countless mandays of hard labour has been spent.
If RSS or VHP was doing same thing, the entire national media will pounce on them. But since it is done by a non Hindu religious group, the media is soft on them.
Those comparing Koodankulam with fukushima are people who dont understand science. Japan has a history of volcanoes, strong earthquakes , tsunamis and typhoons. Southern Tamilnadu is not there. It is one year since Fukushima tragedy happens, France still gets 80% of its electricity from Nuclear power, and about 17% of power generated in US comes from nukes. There are atleast 300 nuclear power plants running successfully in the world and just because germany shuts down some, we in India can do that. Of course, this kind of logic and reasoning wont work with the Christian leaders leading KKNP movement, since they seem to be more interested in making politics out of it. And with a friendly media which does not question their motives, they have a field day.
Able administrator, my foot..
She has been running a "Thuklak" administration changing ministers every week and officials every other day (for the same post), slapped by the court every month on one issue or the other.
The only difference that people saw is that instead of the x% commission in the DMK regime for the industrialists to get government projects, the rate has been hiked to twice the percentage so that they had to complain to Narendra Modi about the administration.
Jayalalitha's sharp thinking, very quick grasp, felicity with languages, proven administrative ability and supreme self confidence make her a good candidate for the PM's post. Consider the calibre of most of the Prime Minsters so far. She is miles ahead every which way. She does not have to read from prepared speeches and can hold forth ex tempore on many subjects. She is adroit in handling Press conferences and inter action with the media, whenever necessary. She is coming out openly with her vision of a national role and not hiding behind some one else who is left to take all the flak. She will never say " I am not aware' and 'I was not informed'. She can be counted upon to take responsibility as a PM if such an occasion arises. There is absolutely nothing wrong in her being projected as Prime Ministerial potential, particularly considering the choices we have now.
One classic example of her administrative calibre is KKNP- The state faces severe power crisis, and central Govt is bending back and requesting to state Govt to intervene and sort out the matter, still she has not made any concrete steps to sort out the matter, still she is blaming the previous Govt for the Power crisis. During the poll champain, she promised that she will bring a part of sun to TN and harness Solar power and sort power problem in 90 days .
Mami is all Blah, more Blah and more Blah, she cant do any thing useful. It is not in her DNA.
As of now, JJ is expected to make big electoral gains in LS polls 2014 and the same may be the probability with Mamata Banerjee and Mayawati. With UPA's popularity heading downward, it would be very interesting to watch the battle of supremacy and the political strength of these three lady giant politicians during the ensuing LS polls in 2014.
Selvan >> The Brahmin press ( Cho's thuklak, dinamalar, dinamani , vikatan , kalki et.al ) is going to town with the propaganda that she is an able administrator
Pointless argument. Vikatan group was strongly supporting DMK for ages. Kalki also used to be very hostile to JJ and midly pro DMK in 1990s and much of last decade. Dinamani always used to side with establishment. Dinathanthi, TN's most read newspaper, run by a OBC Nadar is known to be so much pro establishment, so they side whichever group comes to power.
A lot of media dislike towards DMK started when SUN TV group bought dinakaran and musled its way into what the press thought was its own domain. Ultimately, people in TN are quite mature and are not much influenced by media. Good proof is how SUN TV, despite its overwhelming reach (majority of people in TN get news through TV rather than read papers - espically womenfolk) could not swing the verdict in its favour in 2011 elections.
The present CM of TN has every right to desire to become PM, and so do every one else (Mayawathi, Mamatha, Nitish Kumar etc) but reality may always turn to be different.
It is quite possible that AIADMK does its best ever in LS Polls 2014, but there are other factors as well into play. Remember that Mamata is also a serious factor in 2014 LS Polls. Didi is already distancing herself from UPA and 2014 she can also ride - West Bengal as a state is used to supporting non performing Communists for 35 years, so Didi has a good chance to sweep 2014 LS polls also. CB Naidu in AP cannot be written off and SP/BSP can be big players too in 2014. Also, BJP may have too many leaders fighting for top stop, but remember that in BJP, RSS has the final word and if BJP gets more than 150 seats, they can very well get a non controversial, acceptable leader as PM (could be even a surprise rank outsider like say Khandauri or Parrikar or anyone else).
Given all this, it is too early to speculate so let us leave JJ to concentrate on state governance and let us also see of opposition DMk settles the succession issue once and for all.
Jayalalitha is a known megalomaniac. No wonder she dreams of becoming a PM.
It is better for "Cho" to not get too close. Think of the fate of Kanchi Sankaracharya and Sasikala and co. now (assuming the actions are not fake).
The Brahmin press ( Cho's thuklak, dinamalar, dinamani , vikatan , kalki et.al ) is going to town with the propaganda that she is an able administrator who is only prevented from doing anything good for the last 20 years due to the Sasi group.
She got elected only because Tamilnadu alternates between the "devil" and the "deep blue sea" once in 5 years.
"I am sure with RSS gurumurthy as her advisor Hindu Muslims riots are not far off" >>
I am sure with muslims like you another Godhra like train burning is not far off either
People who want to discuss about contemporary TN politics always get immersed in the conventional and outdated arguments about caste, anti brahminism, rationalism and like and fail to see the relevant facts.
Let us first understand what is in place. 2014 LS is not just about AIADMK and DMK but it is about leaders with different ambitions. In DMK, the former CM will be 90 years old and surely has little to look forward in that election. So it is more about the succession issue. For all practical purposes, MK Stalin is the only person who really matters to DMK now, given that all other siblings have shown little courage and ability to get into hardcore politics when in opposition (none of them even show up inthings like protest meetings). And MK Stalin's eyes are set on the CM post in 2016 and he has little time or interest in Delhi politics.
Likewise 2014 maters to JJ more because -she has already been CM not once but thrice in TN and with a party machinery intact, she feels the need to look to bigger chair and only Delhi has it. Given this, 2014 polls in TN may not be a 20-20 match but rather a Test Match ... The real picture will emerge over longer period of time.
Venkat >> Even to do her day to day activites she takes timing and advice from her astrologers.
TamilNadu in 2012 is not the TamilNadu of 1962. There is little point in breastbeating about all these things. Every member of the DMK family goes to temple, either directly or through their own wives. Everyone knows how Kani's family did a lot of things (that are considered evil as per Rationalist ethics) to get her out of Tihar. The party that grew on Anti Hindi movement has now Khushboo (someone who is out and out a Mumbaikar and has Hindi as her mother tongue) as the cheif spokesperson. The top DMK leaders are all fluent and well versed in English and to some extent Hindi too. The party has reached out to linguistic minorities in TN in last assembly elections. So there is no point talking about it.
Venkat >> In the coming lok shaba elections she may not be even win 10 seats , then she come to sense.
Since 1996, DMK has won majority of Lok sabha seats in every election (except in 1998 but that LS was short lived ), which means that in majority of Lok sabha seats, DMK is the incumbent in power for atleast 15 plus years. TN People vote differently in Central and State governments , it was amply proved many times - in 1980; then in 1989 (they voted DMK in state but preferred AIADMK-Cong in LS Polls). In 1999 they voted DMK-BJP at LS and then they rejected same in 2001. In 2009 DMK came ahead in LS but theylost to AIADMK in state polls. So 2014 may not be any different. DMK is part of every union government in last 18 years (except for 11 months of 1998-99) and questions will be asked regarding their own performance and ability to bring benefitsto TN
Nasir Ahmed >> Brahmins have ruled this nation directly and indirectly for 3000 years and they would for another 3000 years.
I dare that either you prove your point or accept that you are a chronic racist liar. Because, the 3000 years that you mention includes 1000 years of Islamic, 250 years of British and atleast 500+ years of Buddhist rule...
So, as per your argument, Ashoka was a Brahmin, Kushans were Brahmins.. Harshavardhana was a Brahmin, Senas/Palas were brahmins, Chera/Chozha/Pandya rulers in TN were brahmins..Ghori, Khiljis, Mughals were all brahmins. Clive and Dalhousie and East India Company were brahmins and yes, yes all the British rulers including Queen Victoria were brahmins. And we know that 8 years of UPA rule we had the cross threaded MMS and Sonia Gandhi is a brahmin Woman.
And Nasar Ahmed is actually a Japanese Robot working in Karaikudi to discover time travel.
Teen deviyaan. Each a kingmaker in 2014. The fun / trouble will start when one of them wishes to be queen.
Pushpa is trying hard to hit the middle ground. At the same time she wants to exonerate Amma for all the crimes she committed. This is dangerous and scheming.People will fall for a middle goround journalist.RSS uses this technique a lot.Journalists first will project themselves as unbiased and after winning the confidence of this large group will manipulate them to their ways. That is why Pushpa is touching the subject of Jaya's foolish decisions.
All politicians in India can say the same whenever they are cornered.Blame it on the associates.According to IPC one need to undergo the punishment if your an accomplice and the same amount if the booty has been shared!Jayalalitha cannot be forgiven like all other the politicians and need to be punished for her crimes.
Sasikala did one good for TN.Her group prevented the Brahmin lobby from taking control of the Governance of TamilNadu. Now it is gone.Brahimin are back in driver seat and with the active support like Pushpha they will rule for years to come.Brahmins have ruled this nation directly and indirectly for 3000 years and they would for another 3000 years.
Anybody who reads the editorials of Cho can easily say how he changes his stance so often according to his whims. It can only leave the reader confused.By confusing he keeps fooling people because everything can be justified. Those who are cowards will not take a bold stand on any issue constantly and this is what I see in him.No wonder he has joined Jayalalitha.Ofcourse the only other perhaps the strongest reason is he belongs to Brahmin community.
I am sure with RSS gurumurthy as her advisor Hindu Muslims riots are not far off.
For having elceted a woman of this caliber TN would have to endure this tragedy. But for journalists like Pushpha these are not important because keeping a Brahmin in power is the most important.
" There is no permenant friend nor foe in politics. Only permenant intrests"
Mrs Jayalaliha has disassociated with many earlier times too!
So the present decision is only hogwash. Of course Iyers are good advisors
and Mr Cho has a proven record that he has no political ambition.
Sasikala, of course, has to play it very safe and not open her mouth, since 'fake encounters' and 'under trial' in jail are very common in TN politics.
Puspha, has, as usual, preferred not to disclose the ferocity of JJs attacks on each of her former 'close friends' friends and relatives. Including, as usual, false cases with fake 'evidence' - stopping short of 'fake encounters'.
JJ had given money ONLY for females in the last elections! If THIS kind of viscious anti-male is considered PM material ( coming right after the slow-motion performance of MMS ), even God may not be able to save the country.
Maami dreams big. Unfortunately she does not have a even one quality to be National leader.
1. She has an ego as big as Himalayas.
2. She has least respect to her own cabinet minsiters leave alone opposition party ( Every month cabinet reshuffles).
3. Even to do her day to day activites she takes timing and advice from her astrologers.
4. Scant respect for courts, one case is dragging for 12 years , Holds a world record for most adjournements- 130 still counting.
4. In the coming lok shaba elections she may not be even win 10 seats , then she come to sense.
Till then there is always Cho and chest beating AIADMK cadres
