Kesari, the RSS mouthpiece in Kerala, has stirred up a fresh controversy by carrying an article in its October 17, 2014 edition, which suggests, albeit indirectly, that Nathuram Godse made a mistake in killing Mahatma Gandhi, when his target should have been the country’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru. 

B. Gopalakrishnan, who fought and lost the Lok Sabha elections for the Chalakudy Lok Sabha constituency on a BJP ticket, suggests in the article that Nehru’s selfishness was responsible for many of the problems the country faces even after seven decades of independence.

While it may be too early to analyse the reasons for the electoral setback for the BJP, particularly in Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, the instant verdict, on at least Twitter, was that it was a resounding rejection of the Yogi Adityanath and Sakshi Maharaj brand of rabble-rousing and communally polarising campaigning (from Love Jehad to blaming Madrasas for terrorism). Significantly, in UP the absence of BSP ensured that the anti-BJP vote was not divided.

It seems the Allahabad unit of the Congress—or at least some of its workers, maybe just the self-styled ones—is hell-bent on causing a top-level change in the party.

A virtual war of the posters seems to be on at present between loyalists who seem to have lined up behind the respective siblings of the Congress first family.

Budget session. Lok Sabha. A debate on price rise. Perhaps the Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi was just giving his tired eyes a rest, or perhaps he was just caught catnapping. Senior BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain said Rahul Gandhi was seen sleeping in Parliament, and that's what the Congress was doing during their 10 year rule.
