While it may be too early to analyse the reasons for the electoral setback for the BJP, particularly in Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, the instant verdict, on at least Twitter, was that it was a resounding rejection of the Yogi Adityanath and Sakshi Maharaj brand of rabble-rousing and communally polarising campaigning (from Love Jehad to blaming Madrasas for terrorism). Significantly, in UP the absence of BSP ensured that the anti-BJP vote was not divided.

It seems the Allahabad unit of the Congress—or at least some of its workers, maybe just the self-styled ones—is hell-bent on causing a top-level change in the party.

A virtual war of the posters seems to be on at present between loyalists who seem to have lined up behind the respective siblings of the Congress first family.

Budget session. Lok Sabha. A debate on price rise. Perhaps the Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi was just giving his tired eyes a rest, or perhaps he was just caught catnapping. Senior BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain said Rahul Gandhi was seen sleeping in Parliament, and that's what the Congress was doing during their 10 year rule.

The BJP-led NDA is projected to form the government at the Centre with exit polls tonight giving between 249 and 289 seats to the Narendra Modi-led grouping, which is close to the half-way mark in the 543-member Lok Sabha.
