'Whistleblower' journalist Alan Rusbridger who was the editor-in-chief of the Guardian from 1995 to 2015 is perhaps the best known for his decision to destroy hard drives containing information leaked to media house by Edward Snowden, instead of complying with a government demand to hand over the data. Under his editorship, the Guardian published files of US intelligence – including warlogs from Iraq – in collaboration with WikiLeaks.

Last year, after he hung his boots as Editor, he was swiftly appointed the Principal of Lady Margaret Hall, University of Oxford.

Labour MP and shadow foreign Secretary, Hilary Benn 's speech in the House of Commons in support of air strikes over ISIS territory in Syria and Iraq, created quite a stir and made even many of his own party members change their minds. 

MPs voted in favour of the air strikes by 397 to 223 votes after a ten-hour long debate and apparently Benn's speech helped many of the Labour MPs make up their minds about a military intervention in Syria, depite Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn's wishes for the party to vote against air strikes.

On July 23, 2015, we had carried a story on how a PhD researcher came across one of the oldest fragments of the Holy Quran in the Birmingham university library. 

Initial tests showed that, with a probability of more than 95%, the parchment was from between 568 CE and 645 CE.

Recent reports about the carbon dating of these fragments reveal some interesting facts.

The Indian Air Force and its British counterpart, Royal Air Force recently had the fourth edition of Indo-UK Bilateral exercises. The 10-day long Operation Indradhanush saw the Indian Air Force bring four of its fleet of Russian-designed SU-30MKI Flanker fighter aircraft to RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire to face off against the RAF’s Typhoon FGR4 fighter.
