On July 23, 2015, we had carried a story on how a PhD researcher came across one of the oldest fragments of the Holy Quran in the Birmingham university library.

Initial tests showed that, with a probability of more than 95%, the parchment was from between 568 CE and 645 CE.

Recent reports about the carbon dating of these fragments reveal some interesting facts.

The Indian Air Force and its British counterpart, Royal Air Force recently had the fourth edition of Indo-UK Bilateral exercises. The 10-day long Operation Indradhanush saw the Indian Air Force bring four of its fleet of Russian-designed SU-30MKI Flanker fighter aircraft to RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire to face off against the RAF’s Typhoon FGR4 fighter.

Imagine it's sometime between 610 AD to 632 AD. Imagine a Prophet receiving revelations from God which would form the basis of one of the world's largest religions. Imagine people sitting around him hearing him preach, in the middle of a hot, arid desert, some committing it to memory, others writing it down on anything that they can lay their hands on - parchment, stone, palm leaves and the shoulder blades of camels.

Now imagine a fragment of it turning up 1,370 years later, in a far away land. Birmingham, UK, to be precise.

It's passing the parcel once again in L'affaire Lalit Modi. A day after the Congress said the UPA had written to the UK government to send ex- IPL chief Lalit Modi back, the MEA has now admitted that no attempt was actually made to seek the extradition of Lalit Modi.

"The MEA revoked the passport of Mr Lalit Modi at the request of the Enforcement Directorate on March 3, 2011. At that time or subsequently no request was made from the ED to the MEA to seek the extradition of Mr Lalit Modi," the MEA said in an official statement to Outlook.

Ireland may have said yes to gay marriage but they are still a little behind when it comes to accepting homosexuality among animals.

A "gay" bull who goes by the name Benjy recently made headlines in Ireland when his owner complained that he was not fulfilling his duties at home in County Mayo since he showed little interest in the opposite sex.

The BBC reported:

His (Benjy's) story was picked up by an animal rights group and an online gay daily magazine. A campaign to buy him and give him a new home at the Hillside Sanctuary in Frettenham, Norfolk, followed.

In under a week the campaign raised over £9,000, including a £5,000 donation from Sam Simon, co-creator of the TV cult cartoon The Simpsons.

But now that he has settled in his new home in Hillside Animal Sanctuary, in Norfolk, it seems that Benjy isn't gay after all. He just doesn't like Irish cows very much and prefers the English.

Wendy Valentine the founder of the sanctuary said: "Judging by what he was trying to do the other day with one of the cows... he isn't gay."

"He's a large, gentle animal, he's lovely and he's a very handsome boy, but a big gentle softie," she added.
