Mukul Kesavan writes in the Telegraph that he thought the English tour of India in the wake of the Mumbai killings was a bad idea and that it's hard to believe that sane people allowed Sri Lanka to tour Pakistan:

He makes a very convincing arguement why home minister, P. Chidambaram is right in seeking the postponement of the second season of the Indian Premier League:

If the organizers of the IPL and their business partners have any sense, they’ll make no move to press the government to revise its view on the postponement. I write this as a lover of cricket. If a perceived stretching of security resources to accommodate the IPL were to lead to a terrorist breach of the peace during the elections, India would become a cricketing pariah. India is the economic engine of the global game: if it were to go the Pakistani way, international cricket as we know it would be subverted.

Basically what the author says is stop playing cricket till the scrouge of terrorism is wiped out..ridiculous advice..the need of the hour is a two-pronged approach as mushy would have said 1) give the police force the best equipments and 2)bloody have the bus the cricket officals and cricketers travel bullet-proofed.(can you believe the bus that took the cricketers wasnt bullet-proofed.Also with regards to IPL the author says postpone it or dont have it at all..which again is totally absurd..I understand HM's position where he feels security will be stretched but My theory is that the companies that own the IPL teams should spend money on getting the best security instead of hiring bikini clad girls to shake their laffy taffy..My 2 cents..i could add more but let me stop at that..

Read your article "THE LESSONS OF LAHORE - Why did the Pakistan
government roll the dice?" in The Telegraph,Calcutta,India.
Lanka has TeamedUp with Pakistan and China.Lanka is getting a lot of
weapons and sophisticated war machines from Pakistan and China.
Lanka is a Genocide Perpetrator against Tamils.
Pakistan committed Genocide in East Pakistan (now Bangladesh).
China is a Genocide Perpetrator in Tibet. China supplies war weapons
to Human Rights Violators Burma and Sudan.
It would be a righteous gesture for you to mention this .It is the
undisputed TRUTH.
It is not hard to beleive nor is it a myth. The world majority KNOWS THIS.

Mort.

Postponing the IPL tournament is only one aspect - the Indian government should exploit this opportunity to boost its security apparatus significantly in line with the plans announced after the Mumbai attack.

Perhaps it's time to resurrect HPS Gill and his approach to ridding India of the Khalistani cancer.
