UPA has comeup with big joke in the name of lokpal bill. I wonder how the people defending it (Kapil Sibbal, Abhishek Singhavi etc) keep straight face while talking about it.
A few days back when Mukul Kesavan's artcle in the Telegraph was being discussed here , I pointed out that the political class do not want any anti-corruption regime with teeth. And they have immence potential for stonewalling the issue. Anna Hazare & his team has their task cut out for long haul. Now that they have come up with a bill , it has turned out to be mockery of battle against corruption. And the red herring of minority reservation . Its a immencely cunnigh ploy. They a have waved a red rag in front of the BJP. And the BJP has swallowed it hook , line & sinker. Or is it a well coreographed clever mock-fight ?. The BJP is smelling power. A Lokpal with a bite may haunt them & come back to bite when in power. By the way, last when last Lalu Prasad Yadav was relevant in national politics ?
The game plan for now seem to wear off Anna. Anna will be faced with the question after three days - What now.? He is up against slyest poltical operator independent India put in power. One of the principal condition for neo-liberal economic paradigm is cronyism which is nothing but corruption. How this fish will survive out of the muddied water of corruption ? What Anna asking is for them is to commit suicide.
Recently I am seeing Vinod Mehta ji going around warning the agitation.
Unlike the known rationaliser (Ketkar, Vinod Sharma, etc), I am tends to take Mehta's independent view seriously.
Let me say this, you are not home, until you are home.
As far as lokpal bill is concern, we are not even in town yet. we can't drop our guards, we can't stop the vigil.
As the three days of drama unfold, we better keep the voice up and be heard. This is the moment of action, this is the defining moment.
With a bit of words here and there:
