"See the composition of the Congress party in Sonia's absence." - SS Nagaraj

What has this got to do with religion? Anyway, Rahul- to my knowledge - is a Hindu. Ahmed Patel is one of the must trusted persons at 10 Janpath. We may despise her, but Sonia has the right to decide on how she wants to do, whatever she wants to do.

While it's not relevant at all, if we really want to go into details, he is half Christian, quarter Parsi and Quarter Hindu. He knows best the religion he professes to follow (if any).

My best wishes for Mrs Gandhi's speedy recovery from whatever she is suffering. However, I agree with those who think that the Congress should have been more transparent. This is typical smoke and mirror stuff, and the news publication that first tweeted and then deleted that she was admitted in Sloan Kettering were definitely not kite flying. It was too specific. Either they were indiscreet and have caused security issues for the Gandhis. Or they were just trying to spread disinformation. They clearly had an agenda. What that was will perhaps be clear in the days to come.

Whatever is our opposition to her policies, corruption and dynastic power, Please refrain bad comments on her health. My mother in law passwed away with cancer a year ago. It was painful for the whole family.

Based on her hosiptal, we can only guess what is going on. It is very tragic situation for families to deal.

This also shows the bankruptcy of the CON party. If some thing happens to the dynasty, only Ghandhi or their loyal servants are trusted. Not even some one like Pranabda who served the nation and party honestly for so long.

So apart from Congress party's word, and Tehelka's disinformation, do we really know what is wrong with Mrs Gandhi?

If she is really unwell, it goes without saying, let's hope it is nothing very serious and all the best wishes to her for a speedy recovery.

I torally agree with Brahma Chellaney, though. The men known to be the most incompetent have been chosen to run the Congress party. And in this scheme of things, now the PM has been so demeaned that even Mrs Sonia Gandhi's secretary and his own not very bright defence minister now can order him around. We will not talk about the man who should actually have been beaten with that shoe (or was that just a Congress wag the dog?) or the other man who was certified by none other than Syed Naqvi to have "emotional problems" in Wikileaks.

I do wish Ms Sonia Gandhi a speedy recovery and healthy and long life ahead.

I tried my best, but can't hold it.
It is sad that we are exposed standing next to dictators in such situation.
When only person Fidel Castro could find and trust was his own brother Raul under same circumstances, we said that how dictators work.

Being a female, a VIP at that, has huge potential for gaining sympathy among males AND females in India.

The Congress might try to wring out a sympathy wave using this.

Her illness is her personal affair and she has a right to keep it confidential.

The quatret of dumbs will monitor dumbest PM of India. Sardar mongrel do you feel ashamed of yourself of being bullied by stupid Rahul who has spent most of his time in his Colombian girlfriends arms. While other three are complete jokers. Unfortunately Dicky Raja the Albert Einstein is missing. I think point was to look secular ( rather anti hindu) by including members from all religions.

Sonia Gandhi Mafioso wilh the help of Congi Jaichands's and MirJafars has been plundering our country. Now poor taxpayer will have to foot the bill for barmaids medical treatment. She should have used the facilities in India. Farmers commit suicide and this shameless women has no compunction in spending Indians money.

Italiano having a nice time at the expense of we stupid Indians. We still want to look after this family of snakes who single handedly has destroyed our motherland.

So, the bibi Sonia (Madam to her psychphants) has flown away from the Delhi heat to greener pastures of Brooklyn and Bronx during the period when Anna Hazara is scheduled to start his anti-corruption agitation. So very conveniently she is away from all the flak that may come her way for an operation on some "undisclosed medical condition" ... well of course she is entitled to all the privacy she needs but why so much secrecy and intrigue in leaving the affairs of her party that rules the nation at such a crtitical juncture in the hands of 4 inexperienced men ... which does not even include the most senior and powerful congressman today, Pranab Mukherji, let alone her Mr Clean, our PM ... who in any case is rather irrelevant since he has not been elected to the Parliament from any where ... and who claims Assam as his residence in India but only rents a room there ...

As far as we know the only people employed in the family are Rahul and Sonia whose only source of income is their salaries as MPs. Is that enough to explain this expense?

The main losers are the people of India who do have a right to know the health of the most powerful person in our polity. At least general information on what the illness is should have been made available.

Note the marked difference between this ocassion and in the case of the prime minister's illness. There is no place today for the old Soviet style of secrecy.

If only the communist parties,CPM and CPI,join hands with BJP to throw this family ruled party,Congress, out of power, they will be doing the greatest service to our country.Afterall, why does CPM not join hands with BJP? It is only because of the fear that Muslims will not vote for them in that case. Why can't these communist parties realise that Muslims have already left them? In W.Bengal they voted for Mamatha just because of one Rizwanur case. And in Kerala they deserted CPM,and voted for Congress inspite of all the favouritism shown towards that community only because of percieved leniency towards RSS by ruling CPM.This is the time for the communist parties to remove the cobwebs from their political thinking and go allout to wipe out the Congress party,if only in the best interest of the country.

The strong defence of PM and CM of Delhi by Congress leaders in CWG SCAM is a pointer to share of the LOOT reaching the GANDHIS. Congress men are most unlikely to "stick their neck out" for PM- MMS and CM Delhi if the revelations by them are not going to damage the GANDHIS. Evidently, the CWG contracts being given to foregin comanies in preference to Indian Companies is due to ease of parking LOOT in SWISS BANKS- of you know who.

Sonia's minders can keep the details of  her various diseases to themselves. Apart from wishing her "get well soon"; we are not bothered! What is seriously troubling though is the manner and composition of the supervising committee of snoopers she  has appointed in her absence. It is clear that she is running a super government that has drastically devalued Indian Prime Minister's office . It is a national shame.

SS Nagaraj >> See the composition of the Congress party in Sonia's absence. Two Christians,Rahul and Antony, one Muslim Ahmed Patel and an also ran Hindu called Dwivedi

These four may be of different religions, but all have one thing in common - lack of ability, leadership skills and committment to national interests.

Ahmed Patel is a fixer. Dwivedi is pure piece of junk. Rahul has nothing in him except his lineage and Antony - is the dhoti clad south indian version of MMS. If SG thinks these are the kind of people will lead the ruling government in her absense, we can only say that hell is let loose on us.

SS Nagaraj>> Sonia may have early stages of cancer, but India surely has medical expertise to address her illness.

Valid point. UPA govt has been tom tomming a bout its acheivements in social sector, in health care etc. UPA's own spin masters say that India has global quality health care system and they pitch for medical tourism. Given this, why is UPA's top queen going abroad for treatment? Does that mean that India's health care system under 7 years of UPA rule is not still trustworthy?

If that is the case, then BJP should first ask for Ghulam Azad's resignation. And yes, they should issue an advisory that foreigners coming to India for medical treatment should do it only for cost considerations and not on considerations of quality and trustworthiness.

Santhosh >> When only person Fidel Castro could find and trust was his own brother Raul under same circumstances, we said that how dictators work.

Yes, and we have the likes of the Cuba's Living Che Guvera (Castro and his lunatic leftist supporters) have the gall to call themselves as a people's republic . People of same family i guess.. Same here in India, we are a pseudo republic where media works over time to worship and project a family as the greatest divine gift to India.

Pradip Singh >> As far as we know the only people employed in the family are Rahul and Sonia whose only source of income is their salaries as MPs. Is that enough to explain this expense?

Sounds boring and repetitive but let me try .. See, our Gandhi Family have done so much for our country, bla bla bla, the family shed their own blood and lives for sake of country blah blah, so we should not hesitate to allocate the entire national budget of an year for the well being and good health of India's foremost and worshippable royal family.. (ah.. so much tough ! being a sychophant is not that easy)

BTW has anyone noticed this? We have Congress releasing the news that SG is unwell and out of nation for a surgery. We have this happening right in middle of a critical parliament session and right amidst so much expose of UPA's corrupt governance. And just at same time, we have the leading news media of India - Hindu/CNN IBN conduct a opinion poll that says that Rahul is the most popular choice for PM. That is, some 19% of 38000 Indians consider him as the best choice for India's PM post. And we have its editor Sagharika Ghose (whose dad Bhaskar Ghose was incidentally at helm when Doordharshan was Rajiv Darshan) write a whole article on why Rahul is the PM we should have and why those against him are a bunch of evil Hindu Right nutcases. Maybe Outlook will come with its own version on the greatness of Rahul.

It is saddening to see entire India's MainStream Media going into full scale worship of India's Royal dynasty. Feudalism at ist worst.

Vivek >> Not even some one like Pranabda who served the nation and party honestly for so long.

Let us say you are a rich king with a huge treasure that has to be physically guarded. You are having a inexperienced prince while you need to travel abroad urgently. What will you do to guard the treasure? You will not entrust the job to someone who can put the treasure for public benefit or someone who can multiply the treasure many fold. You will entrust the job to someone who is obedient and trustworthy, someone who will keep it intact till you return back.

Jitendra >> Sardar mongrel do you feel ashamed of yourself of being bullied by stupid Rahul who has spent most of his time in his Colombian girlfriends arms.

The guy is making amends to those stupidites by padayatra stunts in farmlands, by dining in the houses of ultra poor destitutes in rural UP. And he is hoping his way to win by a LANDSLIDE margin in 2012 UP Polls and then in 2014 nationa polls.

Anwaar >> Sonia is in the same hospital in which Nargis died. That is a bad omen.

No Sir, this is not the bad omen. There is some thing else which is a real bad omen for Cong/UPA supporters.

It is this. After JNehru, every top leaderof Congress faced a serious political reversal within 2-3 years from his/her assuming the post. We had Indira taking as the head of government/Congress in 1966 and she lead Congress into big defeat in 1967 (she retained power at delhi only because opposition was inexperienced and disorganized). Rajiv took charge of congress in 1984 end and luckily saw elections immediately. But by 1987, his magic had waned and his party started loosing elections in Haryana. PVNR took over in mid 1991 and held on but started losing polls in his own home state in 1994. Sonia took charge in March 1998 and presided over the worst rout of Congress in October 1999.

And now rahul is taking charge in mid 2011 and assuming SG prefers to retire from active politics after returing back , rahul has a full 2 and half years before next elections. And there is nothing to suggest that he is going to be any better.

Rajesh >> The commies can win a maxiumum of 60 seats... how's that going to be enough ? BJP needs its old allies in TN and AP back...

Draw a straight line in India's map , from Trivandrum to Kolkatta.. we have 5 states - Kerala, TN, AP, Orissa and WBengal - 160 LS seats. It is these five states where BJP/NDA is non existent. And two of these states are ruled by Commies and they have no reason to be on side of BJP. The moral of story is that any BJP/NDA election exercise must have allies in these states. The more, the better. CBN, Jaya and Naveen invested in Left (instead of NDA) in 2009 . THe first two fell flat . The third won, but today he is isolated and fiding harsh treatment from a UPA hell bent on harassing non Cong states.

There is little chance of left getting back those 60 seats of 2004, as long as Didi magic is there. So the message for those 3rd fronters is clear...

Alternatively, without these states, BJp should do a 1977 janata party, win everywhere else. But that means they should need a strong grip on UP which is what is now lacking....

The media and the electorate are aware of Sonia’s role in country’s politics. It is important for them to know the status of her health. It has a bearing on the leader of the ruling party and the way the country is governed or mis-governed.How could one respect the privacy of a national leader?
In the absence of concrete information, several unwarranted speculations are doing the rounds. Claiming intelligence inputs as the basis, some say it is a political illness to avoid the on-going turbulence in the country.
What ails Sonia Gandhi is a matter of public concern. India is a democracy and (and not a communist country) where a top level leader’s health can’t be kept as a State secret. So far ,there has been much speculation ,but no information about her health conditions.
The print media and the ubiquitous 24x7 Channels have covered several absurd matters but have , strangely, given a miss to Sonia Gandhi’s health.
One wonders why did she not trust Indian hospitals’ facilities while the PM ,Ex-PMs, Ex –President have been treated successfully there .

Outlook India : The Congress And The Gandhis

This refers  to Sonia Gandhi’s return to India after surgery in US for some “un-disclosed ailment”.All dailies screamed the same headlines. Her health is a matter of public concern . How could one respect the privacy of national leader?
India is a bubbling democracy and not a communist regime where the health of top leaders are kept as State secret. One wonders, how could the Media give a miss to her health conditions for full one month? Why did Sonia ji not trust Indian hospitals’ facilities while all PMs, Ex- PMs and Ex-Presidents have been treated successfully here. Absence of transparency has triggered unwarranted speculations. This is a bad precedent in a democracy.
