Swamy's bid to prosecute Sonia Gandhi is potentially a huge story. It could shake up the whole political scene in India.

Why Swamy needs a PM sanction to proceed against Sonia? She is not a cabinet minister. Is it because of her position at NAC?

One can be pretty certain that Integrity Singh will not act on this request-just as he has not acted on the request to prosecute Chidambaram. The sooner this goes to the SC the better.

And as an aside, I do hope the SC pulls in Manmohan Singh on the 2G case. The available documents clearly show that Manmohan Singh knew what Raja was doing. If Raja is a criminal, so is his boss.

Let us see how far justice travels in India.

On this topic, the SC must force the govt to release the names of black money holders which is now under secrecy. Let us see if Sonia's name is there or not.

Swamy is accusing Sonia on two counts-Bofors and Swiss bank accounts. Let the swiss bank holders list be made public. We will know if the stories that appeared in the Swiss media and repeated by Swamy and Gurumurthy are true or false.

Why is Soniamma hiding behind a technicality?

This is a great chance for Soniamma to prove her innocence once and for all. To begin with, she can ask Manmohan Singh to allow Swamy to prosecute her. If she has nothing to hide, what is she afraid of? With all the talk about fighting corruption, Soniamma has a golden chance to set an example. She can show real leadership on this issue.

Ask the PM to allow prosecution and put the onus on Swamy to prove his case. If proved innocent, it will put to rest corruption charges against her once and for all.

I know that Soniamma will show real leadership and set a great example for her adopted country.

The political opportunities this presents to Sonia are immense. If she asks the PM to allow her to be prosecuted, it would, in one stroke blunt the entire anti-corruption movement. Since middle of last year, Congress has been on the defensive on corruption issue. And Manmohan Singh has proved himself thoroughly incompetent to handle the issue.

Sonia can take the reins. If she puts herself on the line, the entire anti-congress campaign will fizzle out. The opposition parties really cannot say anything anymore. It will pay huge political dividends.

So Soniamma should ask PM to sanction her prosecution. Everyone knows she has nothing to hide. So why fear?

I believe her position in NAC is officially treated as equivalent to cabinet minister rank. Somebody can correct me if I am wrong.

For all the evidence available against Indira for her emergency, she was treated as above law.History will repeat itself in Sonia's case even if it is found that she has huge funds in Swiss banks. That is India for you.

If sanction is not granted within 3 months, the petitioner is within his rights to approach the Supreme Court directly.

At last we will get to see the Queen Mataji being thoroughly scrutinised, something which has not happened ever since she decided to plunge into politics.

The line that divides optimism and fantasy is thin - that is not going to happen. A few families in this country are above the law.
