You said it beautifully yourself.

You win one Booker prize, and you are a staunch Catholic, then you get all the importance in this country, even when you write blatant lies like in certain Gujarat cases. That is Susanna Arundhati Roy for you.Khushboo,on the other hand, born a Muslim, embraced Hindu spirituality and hated by the Dravidian bigots,is foisted upon with false charges,by elements inimical to Hindu soceity and egged on by Islamic and evangelical forces.

Indian Character in India seems to have lost all morality, common sense and responsibility. Ms. Roy has brought Bookers Prize to disrepute by writing all these stupid articles. Sometimes I wonder, if she has any brain cells!!! Adivasis and the underprivileged in India have to leave their backsides, and get educated to move forward in life and not use the barrel of the gun as advocated by Ms Roy and her colleagues!!!

Converting TRIBALS to Christianity is the aim of all such violent armed struggle. Conversion to Christianity was in full swing in NE states during the Armed struggle. Mizoram became peaceful when the conversion process was completed and the converted MIZOS declared that MIZORAM is for Christ. Presently, The Church supervises even the elections in Mizoram. The conversion spree is almost complete in Nagaland so Nagas have also opted for cease-fire which is a prelude to MIZORAM like situation in NAGALAND too.

Susanna Arundhati Roy is part of this "CHRISTIAN CONVERSION EFFORTS". By the time the Maoist violence subside, the entire Tribal population of the "Maoist violence effected area" would have been converted to Christianity.

i find it funny that you as a staunch muslim supports
freedom of speech. have you not heard of the laws
which punish blasphemers. it is death in most muslim
countries.

have you forgotten the fatwas against salman rushdie
and the campaign of hate against tasleema nasreen.

freedom of speech is in your view reserved for your
kind of bigots. you ask -where are the white coats-
when some oppose your demented views.

you go berserk when people question islam or mehemmet.

you are a knave and a hypocrite.people like you are
an anathema to liberal westerners. you can preach
in india, thanks to the equally hypocritical secularists. you would be mocked in the west.

Prashanth, you don't have to understand the article to know that Arundhati Roy is an ani-national Maoist revolutionery (of the closet variety) gathering the support of our so called intelligentsia for her agenda of armed insurrection in the Maoland belt, leading to the conversion of the entire tribal population to Christianity. A cursory glance at Bapa Rao's article is all you need.

It has been stated with proof with what happened in MIZORAM and NAGALAND, where similar violent armed struggle were on from 50s. In MIZORM Church deciding the candidates and supervising election (in a secular India) has been reported in OUTLOOK.

this article is satire, a higher form of wit. When the good Admiral decided to pre-emptively save Ms Roy from the Chattisgarh constabularily and nominate her for sainthood, the only response can be to prick these self important twits.

The good Admiral rather stupidly jumped the gun. Possibly he is one of those upper class idiots because he is not the sharpest knife in the drawer. Did it not occur to him you can only become a saint after the period of persecution and suffering. You have to pay your dues.

So with the good Admiral prematurely creating a cacophony, the Chattisgarh police should wisen up and backoff. Because this is precisely what Roy wants.
And for all you votaries of Roy, remember this is longer about the tribals. Its about the Cultus confirmation of Roy.

Nagaraj, the secular media has hugged Khushboo with the impression tat she is a Muslim, who was being hounded by fundamentalist Hindus with false and frivolous cases foisted against her. If Roy, Barkha, Sardesai etc. come to know that she is now a Hindu, they will drop her like a hot potato and she will drop off the media map.

If Arundhati had written this a hundred years ago, she would have been embraced by most Indians. The recent prosperity has made us loose our moral compass. We feel closer to the West than we do to our own poorer countrymen.

I guess no one would have appreciated Premchand (The famous Hindi writer) if he had been born in this age and time.

It is said that the middle-class is the shield of the rich who protects them from the deprived poor. In this case Mr. Bappa Rao is acting as a shield for Mr Rajan who owns the Outlook Magazine.

Or perhaps Mr. Bappa Rao is envious of Arundhati and hates her for her guts, her willingness and courage in meeting and living with the Aadivaasis and the insurgents in Dandakaaranya. I dare him (Mr Bappa Rao) to do a similar act of courage and love for his countrymen, before shooting off further polemics at Arundhati.

OK
lets yearn for a time when things were simpler. Lets dream of a country with two classes of people - the intellectuals and the peasants! Would that make you happy now.

"lets yearn for a time when things were simpler. Lets dream of a country with two classes of people - the intellectuals and the peasants! Would that make you happy now."

At least we should not abandon the dream of providing enough food to the peasants. Letting the tiller own enough land and water, so that they can live free of hunger and with dignity. That was the aim of the land reforms attempted in many parts of India - which only partly succeeded.

Since the intellectuals of yesteryears were unable to secure just that for the poorest, why do we object now that they are asking for their rights with some force.

And on this forum, there is hardly anyone representing the peasants, so let me pretend to be one and speak as one.
