Fundamental question to Outlook: Are you careful enough to preserve authenticity and trust?
And to readers: Are you really serious about this list?
It looks like this is the list of institutes Outlook wants business from.
Shall I spoil the air by doubts of corruption?
I am also a businessman, but I don’t play with someone’s career especially when he/she is paying for my services. By providing biased information, you are misguiding the aspirants. Be fair in your business which is authentic information.
Outlook Editors, do you want me to remind you the importance of faith of audience?
Amrita School of Business being 72 on your list is a shock in itself. Moreover it is ranked below Indira, Karunya, MET, Singhgad, Balaji, Jaipuria is absolutely unjustified.
Faculty, facility, international stand – Amrita is far ahead of at least 45 out of these 75. If you hit on placement packages, I am sure this year even the ones you mentioned above Amrita lost the battle there.

Amrita has done well even in bad times. The ranking of 72 is not justified.

Well i have heard so many comments..about ranking differences of good colleges but I have two questions!!
1)On what basis do you say that only these selected no. of colleges are good colleges and rest are bad.I think..only by hearing and placement package right??
2)If only 'X'no. of colleges are Qualty B-School then what about rest..have they no authority to come in the race of quality B school..
I think with some of the ranking may not be digestive but let it percept in different view!!
Magzing already stated that..this is the survey being done to give you Idea but choice is always your!!

:)
All the best Outlook ....

How can you give IBS 17th rank, when there is so much chaos going on in the name of Icfai University.
The ongoing strike was the reason that this year none of the students has taken admission in Icfai Tech.
IBS has closed so many centres and it is on the verge of closing some more centres because of the non-performance.
Outlook Please clrify this with the management of the Icfai University that wher does this University and especially IBS stands and then publish the rankings.
I hope next time before putting up the rankings in your magazine you will talk to the students and the local people about the reputation of the University

I think this rankings are ridiculous after No.20.
Some colleges are rated far higher, which are obviously visible, while some which ought to be higher are way below(Specially form 20 -40)

The editor has done a fabulous job here.....many aspirants have been waiting to see the rankings....But there are few things which i really don't know on what basis they have been ranked,a real surprise for the aspirants.....Good to see colleges like FMS and IIFTs have been consistently ranked at top..I don't no why colleges like IRMA is in 40s??????

The low rank given to IRMA in the Outlook rankings is not at all justifiable. There are many B schools that I cannot mention in public forum which are not in the same league as IRMA but have been given a higher rank. IRMA attracts high calibre students with around 16,000 students having written the exams this year for around 120 seats, conversion ratio of less than 1 percent making it one of the most competitive exams, definitely more competitive than many of the B schools that have been ranked above IRMA.
When it comes to faculty also there are approximately 25 fulltime faculty majority having a PHD from reputed institutions like Stanford, Oxford, IIM, IIT, XLRI ISEC Bangalore etc. It is also one of the few management institutions apart from IIM offering PHD programme which has been running successfully for the last five years with its passouts holding faculty positions in TISS, GIM, IIM, XIMB etc. With combined strength of 200 students faculty student ratio works out to be 1:8 which is again better than many of the B schools that have been ranked higher than IRMA.
When it comes to infrastructure also it has a lush green 66 acre campus and with combined batch strength of around 200, per student campus area works out to be among the highest in India among all the B schools. Campus is also equipped with all modern amenities like WIFI, Sports center, GYM etc, single occupancy rooms for all students which is a rarity in present time etc.
Placement another major concern for students is another indicator that can be misinterpreted when looking at the figures. IRMA unlike other B schools caters to a different set of audience and hence follows a placement policy which is open to only limited number of private sector companies. This the main reason for low salary but most of the private sector companies that have been coming to IRMA like ITC, ICICI group , PSUs like Bank of Baroda and Cooperative like GCMMF treat IRMA on par with IIMs with IRMANs drawing similar salary and positions in the respective organisations. Many IRMANs after gaining experience with NGO, State and National government agencies end up working with world class organisations like World Bank, UNDP, Ford Foundation etc.
IRMANs spend six months of their two year stay outside the campus actually applying concept learned in classroom sessions. Even IIMs don’t offer so much exposure to its students and that I believe adds more to development of personality of students rather than endless class room sessions so much in vogue in all other B schools apart from industry exposure.
I am now of the belief that a reputed institute like IRMA should refrain participating in such bogus ranking which doesnot factor in many of the considerations some of which I have highlighted. The worth of institution like IRMA is known to people who matter and that is what finally counts in the end. IRMA has been doing tremendously well for the last three decades and would continue to do so without approval from any rankings.

I just came across the b-school rankings brought about by Outlook. no doubt that the IIMs and all feature among the best, but whats surprising is a number of colleges people haven't heard of pop up in the list. And surprisingly a college like IRMA which has a teacher student ratio of 1:6 and a campus which is among the best in the country, enviable by most of the b-schools has been ranked as 43. many colleges which i personally haven't heard of have appeared higher in the rankings. this brings into question whether these rankings are a true reflection of what a mba college stands for?? what has been its achievements?? and how good the pedagogy and faculty of the college are(and the students as well)?? i can assure you that some of the colleges listed do not even occupy space greater than the half the area on which the hostels of IRMA stand (and IRMA being given a score of 99 in infrastructure out of a total of 174). this is not to derogate the other colleges, but to bring about the reality in the so called b-school surveys. IRMA has had an illustrious history, mapped by some of society's eminent people passing out from here. the sector that the institute serves is a challenge in itself and no other institute has an alumni in as diverse fields as IRMA has. this brings into question the parameters that the survey has taken to rank IRMA. a number of them are just not applicable since the college is in a totally different league,(and still they do not care of taking into considerations parameters which would actually reflect the intellectual standing of the faculty and students of a college). the students of IRMA who go out to serve the development sector, they being compared to other graduates who join corporates on the basis of salary....is it how they take the parameters to judge colleges...i personally think the magazines should be more responsible in bringing out the rankings and not just rank them on some superficial parameters.
