How do you rate the LDF's prospects?
We are sure of pulling off a victory. It will be a close fight. It always is a close fight in Kerala but we will win.
According to you, where has the UDF failed?
It has failed in every respect—after four years of K. Karunakaran and one year of A.K. Antony, what do we have? We have 100-per cent power cuts. Industries have virtually closed. Unemployment is on the rise. Corruption is rampant.
But Antony is seen as Mr Clean. Will it influence voters?
I don't dispute the fact that Antony is clean and above corruption. But look at the people in his cabinet. Many of them are thoroughly corrupt. As a team the present government is corrupt and people are looking for a change.
The LDF has also been hit by bickerings within its ranks. Also, the split in the state unit of the Janata Dal will affect your prospects.
I don't deny that the Janata Dal split will affect us in some constituencies. But we are trying to sort things out. And on the whole, we are more united and together than the UDF.
